Hello everybody, so this week my professor Leif Peng brought us in two professional graphic designers and illustrators to our class on tuesday for us to hear about their experiences and life as a graphic and illustrator working in the design industry and thought they would share us their thoughts and advice for us to hear. So to Begin I will just briefly explain what their business is about. SorryYou'reHappy is an art licensing and surface design studio made up of husband and wife Kyle Reed and Jen Hsieh. They are two freelances who have teamed up to form themselves to start their own business called"SorryYourHappy" which I think is a really clever name. They specialize in print and illustration with a very unique style I don't see often. Jen and kyle are a married couple that work in different styles yet similar illustrations. they are very skilled and talented and both have an eye for color and design, which makes them an expert because color is an important asset to have when creating a design. I really found what they saying was informative and helpful which made us even more prepared for what we were going in for. They gave us tips and advice for what to prepare and answered our questions which was very helpful. Jen was born in Taiwan and was raised in toronto, She does advertising and illustration. She is a freelancer in illustration that lives in hamilton, Ontario. Jen works with a variety of clients around the world, she does advertising and publishing and has worked for The New York Times. You can view Jen's portfolio here. Kyle was brought up in the suburbs of Southern Ontario. Raised on a diet of picture book and Saturday morning cartoons, he has created his own tiny worlds and stories for the past decades as an illustrator. His clients include Scholiastic Inc, Cricket Magazine, Mcdonalds and Anheuser-Busch. Kyle was also part of the CORE Digital Pictures' 2D design team behind the popular children's educational cartoon "Super Why".You can view his portfolio here.
